rory Hancock guided Galashiels to a 42-run victory over Manderston at Meigle Park in the Reserve League on Sunday.
An unbeaten score of 57, four wickets for just five runs and a crucial runout meant the 18-year-old was the obvious man-of-the-match.
On a damp wicket, Gala struggled to 27 for 5 off 19 overs when Hancock was joined by Craig Thomson. The pair put on a 50 partnership, with Thomson out for 22 as the homesters reached 126 for 9 from their 40 overs.
In reply, Manderston looked in good form at 33 for 0 from 12 overs, but Hancock’s pace and swing proved too much for the visitors in a superb spell of bowling. And his accurate long throw from the boundary also accounted for Sam Culham, who looked in good form as he scored 36.
The Berwickshire men were eventually all out for 84.
