Gala quartet swim like fish, then chips

It was certainly a case of ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ for the four Gala ASC swimmers who competed at Eyemouth at the weekend.

Sea air, some sunshine and the promise of a fish supper always makes the Eyemouth Mighty Marlins swim meet a must for the diary.

Elsbeth Roper, Bailey MacLeod, Laura Frizzell and Layla Whitson made the journey to the coast and certainly made a splash with some fantastic swimming.

On the day, Elsbeth managed three pbs and also collected two gold and one bronze for her efforts. Bailey had two swims and smashed her pbs, collecting two bronze medals on the way. Laura was up against some very strong opposition and gained two pbs, and last, but by no means least, was Layla who, swimming in some events for the first time, achieved great new times and a pb in her fly.

A perfect day in the pool was rounded off with that well deserved visit to the local chippie and the club wish to thank head coach Robyn Methven for looking after the girls at poolside.
