A THRILLER at Philiphaugh resulted in a one-wicket victory for Selkirk seconds against their Gala counterparts on Sunday.

On a perfect afternoon Stuart Scott won the toss and elected to bat, and it was the Gala captain who led the way for the visitors with an unbeaten 53, but only Rory Hancock with 33 and Gregor Mein on 14 reached double figures among the other batsmen as Gala were bowled out for 131 in the 37th over.

In reply, Graeme Ormiston ripped the heart out of the Selkirk middle order, after Louis Massie and Ranald Wilkie had put the home side on top, however, the experienced Alex Massie hit 33 not out, coming in at no7, and guided Selkirk over the line.
