Gala entertained Melrose in a re-arranged Border Under-13 League match at Meigle Park, and maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a seven-wicket win.
Jack Halls asked Melrose to bat first on winning the toss and the visiting batsmen made slow progress against the Gala attack.
After an opening stand of 25, Brown was bowled by Jack Halls, bringing skipper C. Howard to the crease.
The wicket keeper/batsman showed more aggression as Melrose looked to build a competitive total, but a top edge off Alex Hastings gave Robbie Irvine an easy catch behind the stumps.
Owen and Gaddie went in successive balls at the end of the innings and Melrose closed on 52 for 4.
In reply, Halls and Irvine took control for the home side and were well on top when Halls went to a good catch by Jamieson off King for 28.
Irvine and Rory Brand took the home side to within two runs of victory before leg spinner D. Howard trapped Irvine lbw and bowled Mitchell with the next ball, but Brand and Ryan Legge saw the Braw Lads home with seven overs to spare.
