Gala dominate East race

GALASHIELS CYCLING CLUB

LAST week’s event took place on Monday evening due to the fact that the East of Scotland Cycling Association 10-mile Time Trial Championship was held on Wednesday evening in Peebles.

Results: 1, G. Robson 21.57; 2, G. Lawrie 23.31; 3, S. Mills, 23.49pb; 4, I. Pearson 24.10; 5, D. Johnston 24.38; 6, S. Lowes 24.47; 7, P. McGreal 25.04; 8, B. Hamilton 25.55; 9, B. Lowes 26.12; 10, R. Hope 26.14; 11, R. Kerr 26.28; 12, C. Roberts 28.36.

On Wednesday, five riders represented Gala CC at the East of Scotland Championship and dominated the event, winning the all-comers’ title (Gary Robson in 22.18) and the ladies’ title (Andrea Pogson in 26.33); second Gala rider was David Johnston in 24.15 (5th overall), third rider Graeme Lawrie in 24.35 (6th) and finally Billy Hamilton in 26.18.

KELSO WHEELERS

On Monday night Kelso Wheelers held a 10-mile championship time trial on the Birgham course, with 19 riders taking part and six riders recording personal bests.

Whitecross 35.22; 18, P. Hope 36.41; 19, D. Small – no time due to traffic.

Well done to Graham Easson who was the first Kelso Wheeler over the line at the Caledonia Etape with a time of 4 hours and 12 minutes.
