First class posting from Ettrick team

ETTRICK Forest Archers are in the zone after celebrating their best ever scores in the four-month long BLBS Postal Portsmouth competition.

The team, consisting of Colin Cairney, Alan Lindsay, Ian Bradshaw and Mike Pearson, put in such a good score it took a phenomenal effort from winners High Weald Archery Club to beat them into second place.

The club’s other team, Yarrow, also put in some nice scores to finish seventh,

Individually, the Souters all bettered their previous bests, with Colin Cairney again the top archer. His perfect 360 hits totalled a score of 2,526, earning him ninth place in Britain, with his team-mates close behind.

And Elaine Pearson was just out of the medals in fourth place in the ladies’ competition, shooting a 2,162.

This weekend, several of the archers head west again to Culzean Castle on Saturday for the first target competition, the Scottish Spring Target meeting, and to Mugdock Country Park on Sunday for the Andrew Mackay Memorial Clout event.
