Edinburgh Civil Service 5

Borders Fjordhus II 5

EAST LADIES’ FIRST DIVISION

IN extremely windy conditions, Fjordhus II were taken by surprise at Fettes College on Saturday when the hosts came storming out the blocks to score three quick goals.

But, from a quick hit-out from the home defence, Borders player Evonne Jack blocked the pass and with skill and composure placed the ball into the back of the net.

Civil ended up with their fourth goal before the half-time whistle.

Following a team talk by Jack, Borders spirits lifted and within minutes the pace picked up with some great passing on show.

Midfielders Sara Robson and Laura McColm were able to find strikers Ashleigh Robson and Jack, resulting in the latter getting her second followed shortly by Robson scoring Borders’ third.

Civil still battled and were rewarded with their fifth goal, but the local ladies fought back with great determination, allowing McColm to score.

With five minutes remaining some great defending by Nicola Weelans and Emma Cavers kept Civil from scoring and some quick passing by the Robson sisters allowed Jack to slot home her hat-trick to bring the scoreline level.

The team wish to thank their coach Debra Martin for umpiring the game. Player of the match was Laura McColm.
