Team Borders was back in action at a still and sunny Grangemouth on Saturday in the first of three matches in the JSB Forth Valley League.
A promising start was made with the newly-promoted local outfit, finishing third on 300.5 points behind Edinburgh and Pitreavie.
But with the three other teams snapping at their heels, and the sixth-placed Livingston on 276 points, a close battle for places in Division One looks likely in the coming two matches.
Team Borders’ strength lay on the track with seven individual A race wins, three B race wins, plus two relay successes. There was also a rare field event win, with Adam Leighton (TLJT) securing victory in the under-13 boys’ high jump.
A race winners: u15 girls’ 100m Philippa Robertson (TLJT); u13 girls’ 100m Amy Campbell (Teviotdale); u11 boys’ 100m Max Foggin (TLJT); u13 boys’ 800m Josh Abbott (Chirnside) 2.27.6; u13 Girls’ 800m Rachel Fagan (Gala); u11 boys’ 800m Murray Aiken (Moorfoot); u11 girls’ 800m Harriet Woodland-Broome (TLJT).
