Experiencing endurance

LAST weekend the Scottish Borders Endurance Club held another very successful ride at Byrewalls Farm, Gordon.

The event comprised of a pleasure ride and a competitive 30km event, with around 40 horses and riders taking part, four of whom were non-members keen to experience endurance riding for the first time.

The riders had to cope with rather slippery and boggy underfoot conditions thanks to the recent rainfall, and few horses returned home clean due to the mud spray supplied by the plentiful opportunities for a good canter around the recently-cut stubble fields.

In all, everyone had a great time and thanks go to the organisers and helpers for a great day.

The next ride is on Sunday, October 9 at Charterhall near Duns, comprising of distances ranging from pleasure, 30km, 50km, 60km, 80km competitive and 80km gated.
