Cricket club mark end of season

Hawick & Wilton Cricket Club held their end-of-season presentation night in the clubrooms on Saturday evening, chaired by president Bruce Mactaggart.

Resumes of the season came from East of Scotland XI vice-captain Phil Mactaggart and Border League captain Pierce Solley.

Guest speaker, former player Malcolm Grant, talked of his time at club and he remarked on the good youth set-up – a wealth of talented homegrown players are now making their mark in the 1st XI.

Awards, junior section: best batter – Harris Brogan; best bowler – Greg Johnston; and player of the year – Evan Alexander.

Awards, senior section: best fielder– Phil MacTaggart; most sixes during the season – Allan Moffat with 10; best bowler – Ronan Alexander; best batsman – Allan Moffat; most improved/major contribution – Pierce Solley; players’ player of the year – Stuart Hair.
