Crawlers go the distance

KELSO CRAWLERS held their annual 10K run at the weekend around Floors Castle Estate as part of the Civic Week celebrations.

After the gloomy weather in recent weeks, it came as pleasant surprise that the event was held in near perfect conditions, albeit a little soft underfoot in places.

The conditions obviously suited running as course records were set for both the senior men and senior female categories.

First home in the senior mens race in a time of 33.00 minutes was Robert Gilroy from Cambuslang followed by Brian Turner (34.29) and local man Darrell Hastie (34.52).

First home in the senior female race was Gillian Mykura from Carnethy in 39.19 followed by Ann Hood (41.01) and Kirsten Maxwell, Gala Harriers (41.22).

The male veteran race was one by Grant Wilkie, Corstorphine in 35.04, second was Stephen Clark, Fife (36.21), third was Steven Martin, Gala Harriers (38.13).

The female veterans race was won by Gala Harrier Jennifer Forbes in 41.58, second Gillian Carr, Corstorphine (43.08) and third was Julie Oswald (43.59).

The team prize was won by Gala Harriers.

This was the sixth running of this race and once again it was a great success with 154 completing the course.

Organisers wish to thank the Duke of Roxburgh for allowing the use of Floors Estate and to all marshals and sponsors who helped to make the race the success that it was.
