FORMER St Boswells Primary pupil Gary Lemmon, 13, returned to his old school last week with a top county cricket player in tow.

Michael Powell, former captain of Warwickshire County Cricket Club, former England A player and now the director of cricket at Loretto, accompanied Gary to give pupils in primaries 5, 6 and 7 a coaching session. Gary joined Loretto School from St Boswells in September.

Powell has had a distinguished, 15-year cricket career as a professional with Warwickshire. In 2001 he was appointed captain and led them to victory in the Benson & Hedges Cup.

He played for England A in 2003, has been appointed the elite batting coach for Cricket Scotland and is training the Scottish team.
