KELSO Ladies’ hockey squad travelled to Edinburgh on Saturday to face Liberton Ladies 1st VI in an East Premier League clash.
The visiting team were confident and full of team spirit, following a great performance during their last game, and maintained a high tempo of play throughout the 70 minutes.
Despite creating a great deal of opportunities and early chances, however, Kelso were unable to convert the high-quality pressure in the first half. They felt it was just a matter of time, though, before the first goal was notched up.
Playing with confidence in the second half, Kelso continued to dominate the game. And, with continued force and intensity, were able to score three exceptional goals.
The first came through the skill of Yvonne Jack, who was able to pounce on a rebound and drive the ball into the opposing team’s goal.
This was swiftly followed by an excellent passage of play by the whole team, which was finished by a slick goal from striker Suzi Henry. The third goal of the game came, once again, from Jack, who managed to beat the Liberton goalie to seal the win.
This Saturday, Kelso Ladies face Boroughmuir Ladies in a home encounter at Earlston High School.
