ETTRICK FOREST

BUSY bowlers took part in a double dose of competition on the Ettrick Forest green last weekend.

A good day’s sport was had at the club’s annual Charity Day on Saturday.

The victorious rink was Vera Gillie, Marion Mirtle, Peter Mirtle and Eryl Roberts, who beat a rink skipped by Pat Houston.

The amount raised on the day for The Scottish and Newcastle Lymphoma Group was £615, including the money taken during the entertainment evening.

On Sunday, the President’s Prize took place and the gents’ winner was Greg Sandilands, with Carol McVie taking the honours for the ladies.

AN OPEN mixed pairs competition was held on Saturday.

In a closely-contested final, Langholm’s P. Warwick (skip) and C. Warwick defeated the home duo of D. Weir (skip) and M. Weir. Members and friends are reminded that the club will be holding a coffee morning tomorrow from 10am until noon, followed by the President’s Prize competition in the afternoon.
