Carlton pay price for low numbers

Gala eventually ran out seven-wicket winners in this twice-postponed ESCA Presidents Trophy semi-final against a spirited Carlton 2nds.

Carlton – sporting only eight players – batted first and finished on 134 for 6.

The Gala innings started poorly with Stevie Halls driving Mackay to Carter at mid-off for 9, but a great stand by Jack Halls and Josh Irvine added 96 for the second wicket before Halls gave Shah a simple return catch one run short of a half-century.

Neil Crooks was out cheaply, but Irvine and Kris Mein saw Gala home with more than 10 overs to spare, with Irvine unbeaten for a fine 60.
