REIVERS vaulting Group have just finished a very successful three-day vaulting camp at their Reston base.
Coaches Rebecca Hewit, Jim Pate and Stacey Macpherson put the vaulters through training on the horse and the barrel, and Border Dance Zumba ran a Zumba session, which all the vaulters enjoyed.
The highlight of the week was when Joanne Eccles, who is the current world and European Champion, came along with her sister Hannah and gave all the vaulters some useful tips for their individual routines.
Camp finished with a successful troop competition judged by Joanne and Hannah.
The troops had to run in, build a pyramid, perform five compulsory exercises and then a freestyle routine.
The winners this year were Team Hejas – Jeannie Robertson, Sophie Aitchison, Emma Counsell, Henry Johnston Smith and Abbey Aitchison – who performed a Wimbledon routine on Big Guinness, lunged by Jim Pate.
In second was Team GB ... Great Bannaans – Rebecca Kinghorn, Tara Aitchison, Gaby Purves, Sam Johnston Smith and Amellie Johnstone Jones – on Murphy, lunged by Rebecca Hewit.
Finishing third were the Red Hot Chillie Vaulters’ – Shannon Purves, Imogen Johnstone Jones, Katy Hammond, Pippa Shell, Chloe Aitchison and Elsa Hibbert – on Delikat, lunged by Stacey Macpherson.
