Break in weather helps Gala win

Gala overcame Edinburgh Accies by 24 runs in a low-scoring encounter at a lush Newfield ground on Saturday.

Batting first, Gala were soon in trouble at 23 for 4, but the Neil Crooks/Alan Oliver partnership restored some calm. The Braw Lads were finally dismissed in the 50th over for 110 runs.

In reply, Gala needed early wickets, but with the score on 63, the rain became heavy and Accies were ahead on the rain calculator. But a break in the weather allowed the Borderers to take the game to a natural conclusion, ending the home innings on 86.
