ON SATURDAY, Gala bounced back with an overwhelming 146-run victory over Hawick in a League Cup tie at Meigle Park.
Chasing 178, Hawick were bowled out for just 32 in the 20th over with the returning Kris Mein proving too much for the visitors, hitting the stumps five times in an eight-over spell while conceding just 10 runs.
Andy Lawrie and Neil Crooks chipped in with two wickets each, while Graeme Ormiston, opening the bowling, was unfortunate to take only one wicket in a testing eight-over spell.
Earlier, the home side had struggled to get their innings going against a good opening burst from Neil Storey and Greg Baillie, losing two early wickets as they crawled to 30 off the first 16 overs.
Ormiston and Andrew McMenemy then upped the tempo with a partnership of 125, McMenemy leading the way with a hard-hit 73, while Ormiston played the anchor role with 57.
When both fell, wickets started to tumble at the end of the innings, with Allan Moffat picking up three for 35 for the visitors.
