Berwickshire athlete Cameron Tindle (15) led the way at Aberdeen over the weekend in the Scottish Age Group Athletics Championships.

Running in the under-17 category, Tindle flew to a superb 100m and 200m double gold victory, in 10.72 seconds and 22.03 seconds respectively.

Also on the track, Selkirk’s Zaynah Aziz grabbed bronze in the under-15 800m – and it could have been even better.

The Souter was involved in a three-way sprint finish with eventual winner Iona Crawford of Pitreavie and Edinburgh’s Carolyn Cameron, who finished second.

Stephen Nisbet, Zaynah’s coach at Selkirk Track and Field, said: “She was delighted with her medal, as was I. It proves that hard work and determination does pay off.”

And Chirnside’s Rory Williams finished second in the under-13 800m, ahead of Chasers team-mates Josh Abbot (fourth) and Jamie Kinghorn (eighth) – a great boost to the club having three participants in the final.

There were great performances in the field competitions as well.

Jordan Charters from Dolphinton won the under-20 long jump with a 6.73m leap.

And Adam Leighton of TLJT took silver in the under-13 high jump, clearing 1.45m – a great result for the 11-year-old.
