Kelso Ladies 1

Cala Edinburgh III 1

EAST LADIES PREMIER DIVISION

Kelso Ladies hosted a skilful Edinburgh side on Saturday at Earlston High School.

The Tweedsiders started the game well. Good attacking play down the right side from Dawn Paxton created some opportunities for the forwards.

Cala picked up their game and piled the pressure on the Kelso defence. As the first half came to a close, Kelso should have take the lead through Corrin Bird, who was unlucky to put the ball wide.

Kelso started the second period with a few silly mistakes, allowing Cala several penalty corners and shots on goal. The Borderers continued to find themselves on the back foot and Cala were finally rewarded with a scrappy goal.

Kelso pushed for an equaliser and missed several good chances, Sarah Hope and Suzanne Fleming both unlucky.

But they managed to secure a point as some well-worked play left Bird unmarked in the circle with only the ball to put in the back of the goal. Both sides then pushed for a winner, but the whistle came too soon.
