After a break of five years, Hawick’s Stuart Easton returned to the British 600cc Supersport Championship, riding for Team Mar Train Yamaha.

The 2002 champion is now fully fit for the 12-round British Superbikes championship.

Last weekend’s first round took place on the Brands Hatch 1.2-mile indy circuit.

The 16-lap spirit race on Saturday was a close affair with a Stuart winning by a quarter of a second from Austrailian Billy McConnell.

On the 10th lap of the Sunday race Easton crashed out, but he was not hurt. This weekend’s second round is at Thruxton in Hampshire.
