Back to winning ways at the Green

Gala bounced back from last week’s first East of Scotland league defeat in emphatic style by defeating St Boswells by nine wickets at The Green.

Morning rain meant a delayed start but the gale blowing down the pitch soon dried any moisture and Gala sent the home side in on winning the toss.

After a comfortable start Dean Moir made the first breakthrough, trapping Young LBW with 16 on the board. Steven Broom then went for eight trying to hit Mein into the gale.

The Gala spinners then got to work, with Jack Halls providing both a wicket-taking threat and excellent control of the run rate, picking up three wickets for 15 runs. Graeme Ormiston took over to mop up the tail.

Chasing the home side’s 84 runs, Gala made short work of the challenge, passing the total in the 20th over. Jack Halls and David Boland added 53 before Halls (20) chipped White to Young at point. Josh Irvine joined Boland and the pair scored the final 33 runs required  in just 5.2 overs.
