IT WAS a role reversal from the previous day’s match against Hawick as Gala put in an embarassing display with the bat in their Scottish Cup clash with National Championship side Edinburgh Accies.
There was a surprise when Accies turned up with only nine players, but as it turned out only one was required as Australian pro Dan Rixon took all 10 Gala wickets and the home side were bowled out for 59 in the 16th over.
Rixon interspersed wicket-taking deliveries and wides with monotonous regularity as far as the home side was concerned, to claim 10 for 21, with only Neil Crooks reaching double figures, scoring 31.
Add in 24 extras and that accounted for 55 of Gala’s 64 runs.
Accies did not have it all their own way in reply, losing four wickets chasing down their target. Greenwood was run out from short leg by Crooks and Rive was run out when he and partner Banjeree ended up in the same crease after a mix-up.
David Boland took a juggling catch and bowl to remove Sellar while Graeme Ormiston struck with the first ball of his spell as Duncan Millar stumped a struggling Banjeree.
It was left to man of the moment Rixon to see Accies home, along with Moffat, as the Australian struck the winning boundary to finish on 14 not out for a total of 65 for four.
Gala now drop into the SCU Trophy where they will play St Boswells on June 12.
