Several pugilists from Gala Boxing Club have been thrown in at the deep end in recent weeks, some of them competing in their first championships.
The Novice Championships were held at Ravenscraig in Motherwell over two weekends and is the biggest Olympic-style boxing competition in the UK, with more than 400 boxers entered.
The opening weekend saw Stuart McGurk and Colin Brown make their debut.
The next weekend saw the semis and finals take place.
Stuart Nicholls won a silver medal and Sean Connolly was thrown straight into a final. A brave debut in the ring saw him stopped by TKO in the third round.
The best was saved till last, however, when Arix Ross won his final against Zak Clarkson of Lochend Boxing Club (Edinburgh).
Arix boxed to instruction and a dazzling display saw him bring home the gold in his first contest.
The club was thrilled with the performances.
