Kelso Ladies II2
A late change of venue enabled Saturday’s match between Kelso Ladies 2nds and Waverley Inveresk Trinity to take place, while other hockey fixtures became victims of the weather.
This match was another closely-fought contest which saw Kelso take a 1-0 lead after 15 minutes with a goal from Lyndsey Morris.
Waverley always looked dangerous and home keeper Jenny Thumwood pulled off some impressive saves to keep Kelso’s nose ahead.
A lovely solo effort from striker Jennie Robson saw her take the ball from just beyond halfway and slot home to double the Tweedsiders’ lead at the break.
It was a tight second period with some solid work in defence from Lizzie Hunter and Eryn King resulting in no further scoring.
Kelso are now in a strong position at the top of East League Division Two, having put a little bit of daylight between themselves and second-placed Peebles I.
