GALA RFC Mini Maroons have joined forces with the senior team to show support for the environment.

The club recently took part in the Rag Bag recycling initiative, and players and fans were overwhelmingly supportive of the cause, for which the teams are hugely thankful.

The added bonus was that the funds raised will help support the purchase of equipment for the minis and go towards the player fund for the Gala teams.

The Rag Bag scheme increases awareness about textile recycling and, by increasing the amount of clothing people recycle they can help the environment by ensuring less material goes to landfill.

During the sorting process good quality clothing is transported to Africa and other developing nations where someone less fortunate gets the opportunity to reuse the old clothes.

Low grade textiles are made into industrial wiping cloths.
