Kickboxers have a belting good time

A NUMBER of Borders Martial Arts students took their next step towards a coveted black belt following a recent grading.

Once again all students put in a great effort on the night and the following grades were awarded in freestyle kickboxing – junior white belt: Scott Simpson, Gabby Kinghorn, Mia Kinghorn, Molly Hume; white belt: Rosanne McGillvary, Lisa McNaughton, Angus Nicol, Alyson Paul, Scott Wait; junior yellow belt: Rory Paul, Greig Purcell, Reece Mcnaughton, Ian Grant, Kyle Mitchell; yellow belt: Donna Crump; junior orange belt: Ethan Deakin; orange belt: Susanne Simpson; junior green belt: Jake Shepherd; junior blue belt: Finn Cameron; blue belt: Ryan Craig; junior purple belt: Euan Allen, Hamish Stanners; purple belt: Tony Bates.

In kung fu, grades were awarded as follows – orange sashes: James O’Donnell, Stephen Collins, Cameron Yourston.

The club will close for a break during the summer and classes in kickboxing, self defence, kung fu and t’ai chi will restart the week beginning August 15.
