Craigerne Lane in Peebles has emerged as the preferred location for a full-sized synthetic 3G pitch in the town. The site, which is next to Peebles High School, is being considered after the parks beside the Gytes Leisure Centre were ruled out due to concerns about the potential impact of flooding in the area.
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) is hosting an exhibition this Friday between 3pm and 7pm at Peebles High School Sports Centre. Sports clubs, community groups, school pupils, staff, parents, local residents, community groups and governing bodies are being urged to attend.
Following the exhibition, all comments will be taken into consideration. The design of the new facility will then be finalised and discussed at a future community event. Finally, a planning application will be submitted.
Councillor Vicky Davidson, Executive Member for Sport, Culture, Youth and Communities, said: “We’re committed to delivering a 3G pitch for the community in Peebles and sportscotland has guaranteed matched funding.’’
