From one Brown to another

BORDERS oarsman Leven Brown has been recognised at the highest level for the recent record-breaking achievements of him and his crew.

A personal letter of congratulation from Prime Minister Gordon Brown was sent to the former Selkirk High School pupil last week in recognition of the La Mondiale team smashing two days off the Atlantic Ocean Rowing Record, which had stood for 16 years.

Leven is currently still out in Barbados getting the boat out of the water and crated to come back to Portsmouth, but the letter has winged its way to TheSouthern for those who have been supporting Leven and the team to read for themselves.
