Wise words for folk who lunch

FROM the dark days of 1984 (Selkirk FC lost their third round Scottish Cup tie by a record 20-0 for anyone who didn’t know) to the individual conception of ‘local’ players.

These were just a couple of the topics covered by former Yarrow Park player and manager Jackson Cockburn while entertaining sponsors, players committee and friends at a luncheon yesterday afternoon.

The club’s friendly fixture against Guillame Beuzelin’s Edusport outfit was cancelled earlier in the day due to the weather but all present at the lunch were left pleasantly warmed by Cockburn’s words.
