We fought the law and the law won

Hawick Legion1

Law Parish Church5

VISITING Law got off to a heavenly start by scoring thrice in the opening 18 minutes of this South Cup tie.

Scott McIntyre got the first and three minutes later Ryan Haddow added to the tally. With 18 minutes gone, Craig Strachan put Hawick into further arrears, tucking away a McIntyre cross.

Legion came rallying back and, after Jody Easdon had been foiled by Church keeper Peter Kane, reduced the leeway in the 37th minute. Jordan Caldwell rattled in a shot that Kane did well to parry. The ball then rebounded to the feet of Caldwell, who fired home.

Legion took command for the remainder of the half and, following the changeover, continued to have the upper hand, but failed to turn pressure into goals.

Indeed, it was Law who did the scoring when McIntyre netted in a breakaway raid before rubbing further salt in the wound by notching a fifth, and his hat-trick, to end the game.
