Walls win for Ancrum

Ancrum 3

Hawick Legion 2 (after extra time)

WALLS CUP FIRST ROUND

A GOAL two minutes from the end of the second period of extra time earned Ancrum a place in the second round of the Walls Cup.

Following a no scoring opening forty five minutes, Ancrum edged in front after the break with a Kyle Finlayson goal.

Legion came bouncing back to equalise, when a good passing move involving Callum Hope and Davie Fraser ended in Liam Gellaitry hitting the net with a cracking shot.

Chris Brown in turn put Legion in front in prodding in a Jory Robertson corner kick, from close range.

Minutes from the finish, Ancrum put the game into extra time by snatching an equaliser through Jamie Amos.

During the second period, Legion keeper Ally Willison thwarted Ancrum with a superb save from a penalty but with two minutes remaining, Ancrum’s Daniel Gillie hit home with a dramatic winner.
