Waddell win for Waverley

Hawick Waverley2

West Barns Star1

WAVERLEY booked a place in the second round of the Waddell Cup with a merited win of West Barns Star.

Darren Munro gave the Hawick outfit an early lead in tucking away a shot from close range after Mark Brownlee had flicked on a long throw in from Mark Deans. Minutes later Waverley added to their tally. During a good move down the right flank, Jamie Richardson whipped a low cross over the face of the goalmouth and Scott Craig fired home. West Barns came into the scene more after this , but Waverley were always in control, and Deans and Liam Lavery were both denied goals by excellent stops by the visitors keeper. Star scored in the second half.
