GALA started well and had the chance to take the lead early on when Vics’ keeper Jamie Lyall brought down the advancing striker to give away a penalty.

Lyall made up for it, though, by saving well to his left from Callum Gass.

The visitors took the lead a few minutes later when Sean Pringle volleyed into the bottom corner from 12 yards out.

The equaliser came on 40 minutes when Tony Craggs’ diagonal free kick was touched back across goal from Ryan Pritchard and Grant Brownlee was on hand to smash the ball home from close range.

The Vics took the lead within a minute of the restart. Nathan Douglas’ cross picked out Ryan Clapperton, who scrambled the ball into the goal.

Shortly after William Mercer made it 3-1, with a composed finish from the edge of the box, and rounded off the scoring on 75 minutes with a great chip over the Gala keeper.
