Scott Coleman’s late goal saw East of Scotland side Tynecastle shock Vale of Leithen and dump them out of the South Challenge Cup.

Played at Netherdale because of Vale’s continued problems with their Victoria Park pitch, the Borders side opened the scoring through Keith McLeod on 25 minutes but a mistake by Vale goalkeeper Andy McQueen allowed Dean Crabbe to equalise on half time.

A sweet finish by Stewart Adams put Tynie in front on 50 minutes but Jay Stevens equalised soon after, thanks in part to a great run by Bradley Rixon.

Chances were created at either end but the tie seemed to be heading for extra time until Coleman’s curling 20 yard effort won the tie for the Edinburgh side.
