Vale heavy favourites for local derby

Selkirk and Vale of Leithen’s steps into the Lowland League have led the two respective clubs in different directions, writes John Slorance.

This Saturday the two old rivals are set to meet at Yarrow Park and the Innerleithen men are hot favourites.

Following their heavy defeat against Spartans, Selkirk shall be going all out to prove themselves, though.

The Souters’ David Battle said: “Up until the Spartans game we had been improving, but we were poor on Saturday and got torn apart.

“We will have to put it behind us and get on with the job of playing Vale on Saturday.”

Gala Fairydean Rovers meet Preston Athletic at Netherdale, hoping to transfer their decent cup form into league business.
