A HAT-TRICK of Craig Livingstone penalties helped steer Gordon to victory in this Border Amateur B league clash.
United drew first blood in breaking the deadlock when Ross Scott found the net with an overhead kick.
Gordon hit back to equalise, but United soon regained their lead through another Scott goal. The visitors then had an opportunity to get on level terms in being awarded the first of six penalties that the game was to produce, but the spot kick was missed.
After Gordon had netted twice, Scott squandered a chance to complete his hat- trick in blasting a penalty over the bar. Within minutes of this, United failed from the spot again when a Dale Whillans penalty was well saved by Gordon keeper Chris Anderson.
A further three penalties were, however, still to come. All of them going the way of Gordon and all of them being stuck away by former Gala Fairydean ace Craig Livingstone. Besides awarding six penalties, Hawick referee Eddie Walsh also brandished two red cards in sending off United pair Malcolm Cooper and Kevin Paterson.
