Tough preparation for difficult start

The pre-season build-up is about to get serious for Gala Fairydean Rovers as the club prepares for three home games in seven days.

East of Scotland League outfit Eyemouth United are the visitors to Netherdale on Saturday, kick off 3pm, for what is likely to be a stern test.

This will be followed by a fixture against Dunfermline Athletic on Thursday, July 17 (7pm) when Jim Jefferies will be returning to his managerial roots.

Bonnyrigg Rose are the opponents on Saturday, July 19, at the 3G Arena before the squad heads up the A7 to face Arniston Rangers on Saturday, July 26.

Gala have been handed a tough start to this season’s Lowland League campaign with two away trips to Preston Athletic (Saturday, August 2) and Vale of Leithen (Wednesday, August 6) before home matches against Spartans (Saturday, August 9) and Whitehill Welfare (Wednesday, August 13).

Manager Steven Noble can’t wait for the action to get started for real and is still hoping to add one or two signings to strengthen his squad before the big kick-off.
