Jed Legion 3

Eyemouth 0

jED lEGION maintained the top spot in the Border Amateur League Division B table with a convincing win last Saturday.

Man-of-the-match Chris Baillie put the home side on the road to victory with a brilliantly-taken free kick midway through the first half.

The hosts were very much on top, but they took until midway through the second period to add to their lead, Dean Jeffrey smashing low into the bottom corner after beating a couple of Eyemouth defenders.

Nathan Gillie then put the home side on easy street with a well-taken third.

A brilliant through ball from Jeffrey played in Gillie, who cut into the box from the left and he found the bottom corner with his shot, leaving the visiting keeper helpless.

Match-day sponsor – Deans Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors.

z Some of the Legion players ran the Jed Running Festival 10km race, raising more than £400, which was split between club funds and Teenage Cancer Trust.

It was a fantastic achievement, considering that the run was the day after their cup final loss to Gordon, and there was a few bruised and battered bodies as well as a few sore heads.
