Following an away win over Edinburgh University in their last outing, Gala Fairydean Rovers return to the capital on Saturday to meet Edinburgh City in a Lowland League encounter, writes John Slorance.
Gala assistant manager Bryan Templeton told The Southern: “On Saturday, we will be up against it as Edinburgh City are top of the league, as well as being unbeaten.
“If we take last week’s second-half performance into the game though, I have no fears.”
Gala are without regular goalkeeper John Dodds; Steven King deputises.
Peebles Rovers host Duns in an East of Scotland First Division match. Top dogs Rovers are having an excellent season.
Team boss John O’Hara said: “It’s a very competitive league and Ormiston, Heriot-Watt University and Duns are all on our tail. A win on Saturday is a must.”
Peebles are without the suspended Jordan Hall.
Hawick Royal Albert tangle with Heriot-Watt University in the second round of the South of Scotland Challenge Cup at Albert Park and set to make his debut is new signing Murray Lorimer. Manager Graeme Chadwick said: “I have been chasing Murray for a while and I am delighted to have signed him.
“He was at Hibs and after being released went to Hearts and then Dunfermline Athletic. A year ago, he had the opportunity to sign for Livingston, but decided to stop playing as he had become demoralised and had lost interest in football.
“He has now decided to come back into the game.”
In another South Cup match, Selkirk meet Stirling University at Yarrow Park.
