Hawick Legion 5

Greenlaw 3

BAL DIVISION A

A DRAMATIC comeback saw Legion emerge from the ashes to gain the precious league points they were so desperately seeking in their bid to avoid relegation.

Legion drew first blood when sailing into an early lead. Bryan Tait produced the scoring touch, driving a headed lay-off from Roddy McConnell past Greenlaw keeper David Catlin following a Liam Gellaitry corner kick.

The Berwickshire men hit back to equalise through Keir Blaikie towards the interval and minutes later struck again when Alan Jess scored with a free kick.

At the beginning of the second half, Mark Lang put Greenlaw further ahead.

Legion now had an uphill task on their hands, but thanks to a Peter Gellaitry strike the home side began their climb upwards. David Battle then grabbed an equaliser and within minutes Roddy McConnell edged Legion in front, heading home a Battle corner kick.

Legion had their tails up now and on meeting a well-flighted Battle cross, Peter Gellaitry notched a fifth to complete the scoring.
