Hawick Legion Rovers 5
FORSYTH CUP SECOND ROUND
IN what turned out to be a remarkable game, Ross Cairns edged Hawick ahead in the early stages by turning home a Keith Gobbie cutback.
Despite fielding an understrength side due to a crop of call-offs, Rovers went further ahead when Scott Clarkson curled a shot into the net.
Coldstream bounced back to get on a level terms by netting twice, but before the interval Ally Colville put Rovers ahead again.
In the early part of the second period Clarkson stretched Rovers’ lead in beating the Coldstream keeper with a 25-yard drive.
With Rovers tiring, Coldstream began to gain the upper hand and hit in six more goals in the process.
But Rovers gave an excellent show, considering they were down to the bare bones, and continued to battle, with Gary Moffat reducing the leeway.
