LESS than a week after the resignation of manager Mike McKinnon Selkirk Football Club have installed a replacement.
Former Hutchison Vale Under 21s coach Steve Forrest is set to arrive at Yarrow Park tomorrow night following a successful interview on Tuesday and the Selkirk committee are delighted to have someone in place already.
Club spokesperson Ross Anderson said: “We had already been looking to expand the coaching team before Mike officially resigned and this appointment was a result of all the work that has been going on behind the scenes lately.
“Myself and Brian (Combe), the Chairman, travelled to Edinburgh on Tuesday where we had a long chat with Steve and, even though we had a fair bit of interest in the post, decided he was the man for the job.
“We are delighted to have him on board, he is well qualified and his enthusiasm is relentless.”
Anderson also revealed that Forrest would be heading up a three to four man coaching team at Yarrow Park.
“There are exciting times ahead at the club,” he added.
“Steve has bags of experience with youth set-ups, having been involved with Hibs juniors as well, and is keen to help us put a solid structure in place.”
