Rovers reeling

Ormiston 6

Peebles Rovers 1

ALEX JACK CUP FIRST ROUND

PLAYING a makeshift team on Saturday, following the resignation of manager Graeme Chadwick after only two weeks at the helm, Peebles Rovers were knocked for six in their Alex Jack Cup tie last weekend.

Sensing their opposition’s weakened state, Ormiston wasted no time in putting the boot in, the opener coming just one minute after kick-off, courtesy of Brian McEwan.

Peebles managed to hold off any further damage until the half-hour mark, but three quickfire goals from Richie Weir, Sean Miller and Jordan Young in the space of five minutes buried any hopes Rovers may have had of a cup victory. Young and Craig Fisher added two more goals for the hosts late on in the second half, while Craig Edgar grabbed a consolation score for the much-troubled travelling Rovers.
