POOR discipline was Selkirk’s downfall on Saturday when they clashed with title hopefuls Whitehill Welfare at Yarrow Park.

Having dropped back down the table, the Souters were looking for a victory to put their season back on track.

But the visitors had other ideas and an early penalty, after Jason Inglis had been booked for bringing down Scott Gormley in the box, saw the latter put away the spot kick.

Inglis was shown a red card 10 minutes later when he blocked a goal-bound shot with his arm and Gormley scored a second penalty to stretch the lead.

David Beattie and Ross Allum completed the rout in the second half.
