Peebles comeback is not quite enough

Ormiston 3

Peebles Rovers 2

EoS FIRST DIVISION

IT WAS a scrappy affair at Recreation Park where the hosts had the best of a bad lot.

Ormiston were first to score when Peebles keeper John Nesbit scuffed a clearance and Sean Miller was on hand to tuck away the opener.

Miller was instrumental in the next goal also, when setting up Simon Heyes with a close-range shot.

Jason Young added number three for the hosts and with half an hour played, the game looked all tied up.

Rovers upped their game in the second half, however, and in the 78th minute Gary Knox crossed to Alex Imlah, who fired home.

With five minutes remaining, Ormiston keeper Scott Dowie was booked after bringing down Greig Shortreed and Dale McCall slotted away the resulting penalty.

Dowie was sent off for dissent, but the hosts managed to cling onto their lead until the final whistle.
