THERE was a feeling of déjà vu around as Melrose FC and Earlston Rhymers played out another draw in their C Division quest.
The home team took the lead through a fantastic left-footed volley from Mercer and doubled the tally when Turnbull smashed in their second.
Earlston came back with a penalty from Laidlaw and quickly got a second as a long ball caused a mix-up in the Melrose defence, which Cleghorn finished for the away team.
In-form Mercer scored a penalty for ’Rose to put them 3-2 up at half-time. The second half was a similar story as the hosts failed to deal with a long ball and gave away another penalty which was converted again by Cleghorn.
Melrose pushed for the win and could have come away with three points if Mercer and Paterson had not found a goalkeeper in inspired form. Man of the match: Roddy Eardley.
