Makel makes the kids’ day as Melrose rewards its stars

FORMER Hearts and Livingston footballer Lee Makel presented Melrose FC’s player of the season awards at The Greenyards on Saturday.

Players from under eight to under-14s were rewarded for their efforts during the season, including their commitment and sportsmanship, with trophies sponsored by Mitchell Glass.

Primary 1 and 2 squads are presented with medals for participating throughout the year.

On the same day, the club’s annual seven-a-side tournament saw Melrose defeat Ancrum 2-1 in the BSLT Under 13 Shield, and Duns won the BSLT Under-14 Cup 2-0 against Melrose.
