Lily grab injury-time draw

Gala Fairydean 2

Easthouses Lily 2

EoS FIRST DIVISION

JOHN CLAYTON reports from Netherdale

BOTH sides had an early chance before Jack Hay sent a long through-ball to Marc Berry, who side-stepped the keeper and slotted the ball home from the right side of the area.

Easthouses had a couple of good shouts for a penalty before Gala extended their lead. Berry cut along the line and played the ball across the six-yard box for Hay to blast it into the Easthouses net.

The visitors were awarded a penalty for hand-ball by Sutherland before the interval, but Turnbull dived full-length to his left to push Borthwick’s spot kick for a corner. Easthouses did reduce the arrears on the hour when Borthwick flicked in a near-post header from a corner.

Easthouses squandered many chances to equalise before they were awarded a second penalty in injury time. Turnbull went the same way from the spot kick, but McQueenie chose the opposite corner to gain a deserved draw for the visitors.
