Vale of Leithen0
Far from being the snooze-fest normally associated with scoreless draws, this was a lively encounter at Victoria Park, writes Dave Ryce.
However, it was one that both teams were disappointed to come away from without all three points.
The visitors had the best chance of the first half when Dean Fyfe took possession from Ainslie Hunter at the edge of the area, but his shot hit off the inside of the post, bounced along the goal line and off the other post.
Threave looked set to take the lead in the 70th minute as they were awarded a rather soft penalty as Vale’s Ryan Sclater was adjudged to have fouled Jamie Struthers, but Scott Wilby slammed the spot kick against the post.
The remainder of the game was virtually one-way traffic, with Vale piling forward in search of the winner, but found themselves up against a keeper in terrific form.
A miraculous double save from Vinnie Parker to deny Ross Brady and then Ian Little, was followed by the keeper superbly blocking an Alan Flanagan effort.
The final chance saw Flanagan and Brady combining to set up Little, but as the Vale coach sclaffed the shot well off-target, you just had to put it down to being one of those days.
